March 31, 1843, Abram Bowker purchased 160 acres of land. In 1843 Somers Township had the name of Pike. The Bowker's were one of the very first pioneers of Somers.

Myron Bowker
"Word was received here Saturday of the death of Myron Bowker at his home in Madison. In early life he resided in this vicinity and later purchased a farm near the village of Somers which he operated up to his declining years when he disposed of it, going to Madison where, with his daughters, Mrs. Mary Gibbon and Miss Fannie Bowker, he made his home. He was widely known throughout the county and was a very highly respected citizen. The body will be brought to Somers on Monday and burial will take place in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Somers.
