Thora Smith
Thora, widow of Sam Smith who died unexpectedly while on tour in Amsterdam, Holland, suffered a heart attack on the same day.  She was hospitalized in Amsterdam and returned to Kenosha where she passed away at age 72 October 14, 1965.

The Smith Farm in Somers, Wisconsin - Onions
1926 photo Sam Smith farm in Somers, Wisconsin
Farm located on 22nd Avenue about 1-1/2 north of Birch Road.  Smith grew onion sets which were sold to the Lenord Seed Co of Chicago.  In this photo from the left is Ione Smith Kreamer, her parents Sam and Thora SMith, Mrs. Strifling who worked for the family, Ione's sister Lorna Smith Miller and brother Merlyn Smith.  They are posing with farm's first power tool, an onion screener that shook the dirt debris from the onions before shipment.
